I’m Stuart and I am the Morris part of Morris and Plumley.  I began my career as a vet working in Cirencester in the Cotswolds.  I worked in a small practice with a real family feel, an atmosphere I always thought I’d like to emulate if I could in the future.  I moved to Northumberland in 2010 and I feel incredibly lucky to make my life and work here. 
 
Starting the practice with Dom has been a hugely exciting and rewarding period.  Everything has been new, from planning the layout of the practice, finding the people to form our fantastic team, then finally throwing open the doors when we opened.  Then in the blink of an eye, 5 years has flown by!  We have been so happy to welcome so many fantastic clients and our new colleagues as time has gone on. 

Between a toddler and a small dog determined to sleep on our bed and nights on call, there have been a few sleepless nights, but it has been an adventure!

I’m Dom, Having been a vet in Alnwick and the surrounding area for more years than I care to remember – it was an amazing experience to set up the new practice with Stu - having a blank canvass to do things just the way we wanted. I can hardly believe that this June we will have been going for 5 years! It seems to have gone in a flash – which backs up the old saying “time flies by when you’re enjoying yourself!” Sometimes I have to pinch myself about just how the practice has grown – and there’s not a day that goes by when I don’t think to myself how lucky I am.

I live and work in a beautiful part of the country with great colleagues and wonderful clients the majority of whom I consider to be good friends. That’s not to say that it hasn’t been hard work – every other night and weekend on call back in the early days – but I wouldn’t swap any of it.

Having been joined by Adam and Dorin – two great vets and top folk, we now have an established veterinary clinic that will hopefully allow us to continue and provide the level of veterinary care that we have become known for in the years to come.

I joined Morris and Plumley in late 2020, a move from corporate to private practice and one I haven't regretted. I am enjoying working in this smaller, family style business with its friendly client base. I qualified from Bristol university in 1995 with Dominic Plumley so I am another experienced / grey haired vet to join the team! 

I enjoy general practice veterinary work and aim to do my best by the pets under our care and to recognise where referral to a specialist centre is the best option for them. I live locally with my long suffering wife Sarah and our two dogs, Barney a lurcher and Harvey a whippet cross  Both were rescued from Northumberland Dog Rescue.

Bizarrely I was a vet that had never had a dog of my own, but with these two canine friends I've become an empathetic vet as well as a sympathetic one! I enjoy keeping fit, running, hill walking, mountain biking and climbing but have to say that during COVID I've done very little of these hobbies and become less fit.... something that needs to change!! 

I am a serial obsessive and am currently obsessed with gardening and D.I.Y

I have always loved animals and re-trained to be a Vet Nurse in 2012 after many years in the recruitment sector. I moved to Northumberland from Durham in 2014 and instantly fell in love with the place and have made it home with my husband Kevin, rescue dog Suzie, two cats Oscar and Tilly and Magic the Collie, our latest addition. 

My job is my main passion but I love walks with the dogs, mountain biking, running and traveling too.

Hi I joined the team in September 2022. I have been an RVN since October 2012. 

I have always had a passion for animals and caring for them. 

I have had pets all my life including dogs, cats, guinea-pigs, ponies, chickens and sheep. 

When not working, I enjoy spending time with my two children and husband.  We love walking in the hills with our Cocker Spaniel, Thistle.

The children and I also breed and show our pedigree Guinea-pigs which takes us up and down the country.

Hi I’m Victoria and I am a veterinary nurse.  I joined Morris and Plumley in May 2021. I have two dogs Penny and Nancy, they are both Westie crosses, I also have a bearded dragon called Deeno.  

In my spare time I enjoy walking, cycling and playing touch rugby. 

I also volunteer at the Northumberland dog rescue when I can, I used to work there before I started my veterinary nurse journey. I am very passionate about the rescue dogs and continuing to support the charity as and when I can.

Hi I’m Lucy,  

I am a fully qualified veterinary care assistant, and I joined the team at Morris and Plumley in October 2021. I worked at Paw Perfection dog groomers in Amble and some clients might recognise me from there. 

I attended Kirkley Hall College when I left school and my dream job was always to become a veterinary nurse. I started my veterinary nursing course in September 2022.

I have a 4-year-old chihuahua called Darcie who keeps me on my toes as you can imagine!  

In my spare time I enjoy going to the gym and walking Darcie.

Hi! I'm Kerry, and I joined the Morris and Plumley team in June 2023.

After an early career in the Royal Navy, I spent 12 years in a variety of roles within retail.  I moved to Northumberland in 2016 and have been a client of Morris and Plumley since their early days.  I'd always admired the way the team at M&P work, and what they stand for, so when this role was advertised, it felt like the right time to change careers and start enjoying this amazing area we live in a little more!

I live locally with my family and we share our home with Arthur and Cassie - our two dogs.  I love spending time outside, whether in the hills or at the beach and enjoy paddle boarding and cold water swimming whenever I can.  I love my garden, and spend many hours pottering.  I'm also a serial decorator and DIY'er and always have something changing colour or being built in the house!

Julia Alexander

My name is Julia Alexander I have worked for Morris and Plumley Vets since it opened in 2017. 

I first worked in Veterinary Practice in 1977 and after a break to have two children I returned to a similar role 23 years ago, I have had a variety of roles including nursing, reception and administration. I currently do a mainly admin based role, a large part of which includes the many insurance claims we process in the Practice.  

The main part of my life outside of work involves my dogs I first competed 35 years ago in obedience competitions as well as breeding my first litter of pups. I then became involved in the showing world and have successfully shown and bred Border Collies for many years now. I like a challenge and decided 6 years ago to try my hand showing Pembroke Corgis with which I have also had some success and have just bred a litter of 8 from which I have kept another one to show.  

I do also have a long suffering husband Eric who luckily knows exactly where his place in the pack is and without whom I wouldn't be able to travel the country at vast cost for nothing more than a prize card on a good day!

My name is Sue Bolam and I’ve worked at Morris and Plumley since it first started.  Originally full time, I changed to working as a part time receptionist in May 2023.  I love the varied nature of the job; no day is the same.  I enjoy working with all our lovely clients and their pets and it's lovely to be part of such a friendly, supportive, hard working team.   

I have an honours degree in Science (Pharmacology, Physiology, Biochemistry) and a Post Graduate Diploma in Animal Science. My previous jobs were all animal related, mainly working in the Pharmaceutical industry. 

I have lived in the Alnwick area since I was 10 years old and love Northumberland. At home I like to keep busy, walking, gardening, reading, and doing sport. I have two collies, badly behaved Woody and the lovely Jessie; two cats Harley and Polly; two grown up children and husband Jock.

Hi, I'm Steph  

I’ve worked with animals for over 20 years in one way or another and was a dog groomer for a number of years.

I've been working here with the wonderful Morris and Plumley family since July 2020.  I initially started on reception, but I now also look after stock control, ensuring we always have what we need to treat your pet.  It has truly been amazing getting to know all our patients (and of course their owners)  

I am lucky enough to share my life with Aggie, my Labrador who always keep me busy.  Outside of work I love being out and about on adventures with the family & enjoy a good road trip to watch all kinds of live music.

Hi, I'm Gemma.  I joined Morris and Plumley in February 2023 after 23 years in retail, where I held a variety of roles - all of which involved aspects of customer care.  Being a people person, this suited me well!

I've always had a love for all animals, so when a position for a receptionist was advertised I decided to have a career change and follow my passion.

I live in Alnwick with my family and our very cheeky dog, Chester.  At home I enjoy family time, socialising and keeping fit.

Kim Smith

Hi, I’m Kim. 

I joined the amazing reception team here at M&P back in 2019 as a part-time member of staff. 

At the outset of my working life I qualified as a veterinary nurse, but I’ve also spent many years as an illustrator and advertising copywriter. 

After moving to Northumberland I decided to follow my passion for dog training and behaviour, completing a Level 4 Diploma in Canine Behaviour. I became a Dog Training College-approved trainer, a Certified Pro-Dog Trainer with the Absolute Dogs Academy - and then set up Leaps & Bounds Dogs, which provides ethical and effective training and behaviour solutions for dogs of all ages. 

In my spare time I enjoy canicross and canihike (more canihike these days), agility, scentwork and trick training with my own dogs two gorgeous GSP boys, Dexter and Hitch. I’m also passionate about image making (when I have time), taming my garden (when I have the inclination), Qigong and Yoga.

Hi I’m Louise

I started at Morris and Plumley in October 2024, I have worked at a number of other veterinary practices both in Northumberland and the Newcastle areas.

My experience around animals started much earlier. I grew up on our mixed family farm, helping with lambing, calving, and the dairy, then after a short stint living in the city, I was drawn back to the rural life of Northumberland.

Out of work I am kept busy with my 18-month-oId daughter, Millie, who is always on the go and keeping me on my toes. I also have an 11yr old Jack Russell called Dexter who still thinks he is a puppy, and loves nothing more then being out and about and being fussed over.
